Assistant Pastor Helen Pugh


Greetings!

I am the Assistant Pastor of the Northside Institutional Church of God in Christ. 

I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at the age of 14. As a young woman I became very ill and was hospitalized.  While in the hospital, I prayed to the Lord before major surgery; in my prayer I asked the Lord to awaken me and let me know I was alive and I would serve Him for the rest of my life. 

After I was released from the hospital, I visited the Northside Independent Church of God, where Bishop E. M. Thorpe and Evangelist Lola Thorpe were the Pastors.  The Sunday I came to the church Bishop Thorpe preached a powerful word from God, I was convicted of my sins, opened my heart to the Lord and asked Him to come in and save me.  Within the same year, under the leadership of the Bishop and Evangelist Thorpe, my walk with the Lord progressed and I grew in the things and the ways of the Lord. 
    
In November 1970 the Lord called me to preach His gospel; I accepted the call to Ministry.  I continued to serve wherever my leaders deemed necessary; until my Pastor's, being lead by the Holy Spirit, appointed me as the Assistant Pastor.

I am honored to have served in this position from that time to the present.
